Drama
Drama and Dance at Springs
Western
Springs College has a well deserved reputation for innovative school
productions, ranging from Greek theatre to the work of contemporary
New Zealand playwrights. The drama department has devised musicals
and multicultural events and provides another dynamic, fascinating
and creative facet to school life.
Dance is currently offerred for Year 9 students and, from 2004,
for Year 10 students.
The Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC)
Western
Springs College now has the brand new, purpose-designed Performing
Arts Centre on site, a multi-million dollar purpose built complex
for full college use on school days and run by the Auckland School
of Performing Arts at nights and on weekends. This visually distinctive
building, with its flexible staging and performance areas and rehearsal
rooms, greatly expands the exciting performing arts dimension of
Western Springs.
Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival
Western Springs College participates in this famous annual Shakespeare festival.
Smokefree Stage Challenge
Springs
students have enthusiastically taken part in this dramatic event
for the past few years. This year was a triumph for Springs with
our totally student written and directed performance taking second
in heat and a further nine special awards! |
