Welcome Back to Term 2

Reminders
1) WHANAU HUI - (Next Wednesday, 10th May) 6pm to 8pm
Last months minutes have been posted out today. If you do not receive a copy please contact Tracey in the office and she can organize another one for you.

2) WAIKATO UNIVERSITY – Will be making a presentation next week in the careers centre, please see Whaea Margaret with regards to a date and time if you are interested.

3) SENIOR PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS – Next Tuesday May 9th, 4pm-7pm.
Parents please see your Tamariki to make your time allocations.

3) GIRLS NETBALL – Our Tamariki love Whanau support. Even if it is not one of yours playing we would still love to see you there.

Mahi
1) Y11/Y12/Y13 Careers Assignment - Reminder to Y11/Y12/Y13’s you should still be working on this assignment. If you have any queries please direct them to Whaea Robyn.

2) Senior Exams – These will be held on the 31st May thru to 7th June.

3) Study Guides – Y11/Y12/Y13 these can be purchased from subject Teachers for a cost of around $10.00, so if you are interested make sure you ask.

Updates
1) Ahurea – This is fast approaching, Pa Chris and the Kaiako have put together practice dates for the coming terms and these will be presented at the Whanau Hui next Wednesday.

2) Manu Korero – Thursday 18th & Friday 19th May at Wesley College
All Rumaki students will be expected to attend Manu Korero on the 19th May. A permission slip is enclosed and will need to be returned by next Wednesday. Only a handful of Students will be attending the Powhiri on Thursday 18th. Any queries please contact Pa Chris.

3) Upcoming Te Reo Maori Wananga – Information/Permission Slip notice will be sent out to Whanau in the next couple of days.

4) Upcoming Study Wananga for Senior Exams – These dates will also be sent out with students in the next couple of days.

5) Po FiaFia Night – Just a reminder that this happens in the last week of Term. As the school is looking to make changes this year, I will be bringing these up at Whanau Hui for your feedback so as then to take back those thoughts to the Po FiaFia Committee. A date and time should be finalised after this process.

6) Theatre Production – We have a Maori Company coming to perform for our Students On the Thursday 18th May the cost is $5.00pp – all students will be attending.

All Whanau: If you anything you would like to put into the Panui e.g. notices, upcoming events that are relevant either call Tracey on 815 6742 or email it to rumaki@westernsprings.school.nz (This is our new rumaki email address)

Netball
Our 1st Rumaki Games are this Saturday
Where:
Te Pai Courts, Henderson
Times: Juniors 9.10am Senior 8.30am

If you are finding your own way to the courts please ensure you are there _ an hour prior to your game time. If you need assistance with transport please see Whaea Ka’u.

All players must be wearing the correct school netball uniform.

The cost of school netball skirts are $30.00. Please see Whaea Hana or Whaea Ka’u.

Running Shoes/Cross Trainers/Sandshoes are compulsory.

Weekly Practice Times:
Tuesday 3.30-5pm / Thursday Lunchtime 1.20pm-2.20pnm

All players must be training in appropriate training gear these are;
Running Shoes/Cross Trainers/Sandshoes, tracksuit pants, shorts, netball skirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts.

NO TRAINING IN JEANS/SKIRTS/LONG PANTS/JANDEL’S/BAREFEET.

Basketball
Under 15’s
Practices begin next Monday in the Gym 3.30-5pm (This is a Rumaki Team)

Please make sure you have the correct gear to train in, this includes Running Shoes or Basketball Boots.

Rugby
Under 14’s
Practice Times:
Under 14’s Tuesday & Thursday 3.30pm-5pm

Coach of this team is Peter McIntyre.

First IV
Practice Times:
Monday 3.30pm-5pm (at school)
Thursday 3.30pm-5pm (at Western Springs)

Coaches of this team are Matt Corbett and Jared Dunn.

You must attend trainings with a Mouth Guard, Boots & Water Bottle.

Please have the appropriate training clothes with you on those days, this includes running shoes in case the fields are closed.

Uniforms/Equipment
Mouth Guards can be purchased from Pete for $5.00.

School Socks are also purchased from Pete at a cost of $12.00.

The only other requirement is that you must have black shorts.

PRACTICES FOR ALL CODES ARE NEVER CANCELLED

Please remember that at all times you are representatives of the Rumaki so make sure you;
1) Turn up to Games and Trainings on time.
2) Wear the correct gear.
3) Always to respectful to fellow players and referees.
4) Always be respectful to coaches who are giving up their time.
