Principal’s Notes

Open Week this year saw a huge number of visitors join me in tours of the school in operation, over 350 by my estimation.  We have had really positive feedback from our visitors about the ‘feel’ of the school, the engagement of our students and the enthusiasm of our teachers.  Eveyone remarked how little the impact was of the rebuild on the day to day operation of the school. The next phase of enrolment relates to Intermediate School workshops in early June when prospective students from the feeder schools will immerse themselves in ‘tasters’ of our school curriculum.

Please do note that WSC will close early on Wednesday May 30th (12.25 pm).  Members of the PPTA will attend a paid union meeting in Avondale to hear about negotiations around their collective agreement for pay and conditions.  These paid union meetings are held under section 26 of the Employment Relations Act. Supervision can be provided for students whose parents wish them to remain at school during this time of closure.  Please contact the office if you require your child to be supervised.

I urge all parents to attend the upcoming report afternoons/evenings with their children to check on progress towards academic goals for the year.  These interviews are extremely valuable to us as teachers and to students and parents too.

Finally, can I recommend early bookings to this year’s musical “The Addams Family”.  A huge amount of work has gone into this and tickets are limited. Get in early to avoid disappointment
