BRING IN YOUR USED PICS PB JARS

If you have any used PICS Peanut Butter Jars, DON’T THROW THEM AWAY! Please bring them to Ms Lenehan’s (Whenua HOH) Office (if anyone is unsure of where that is, then ask the office). It is preferred that the jars are sterilised, but if you can’t do that then just leave a note saying so.

This will contribute to our Cup Project!

Year 13s wanted for PALs (Peer Assisted Learning Tutors)

We are looking for volunteers from Year 13 students to join our Peer Assisted Learning Programme. If you are keen to get training and experience as a peer tutor, this is a great opportunity to both learn and contribute. It will also look great on your CV and Tertiary applications.
What it involves is 3 training sessions in term 1.Then in terms 2 and 3 you will work one hour per week (during a study period/lunchtime/after school) to support a junior student. Most of you will be required to focus on year 9 Maths, but there will be opportunities to provide support in other subjects.
If this sounds like you, or you want to know more, call in and talk to us (Learning Centre teachers), and sign up. Training will begin in week 6. We are located on Level 1 Maungakiekie. Ask for Simon or Helen. or email thorpeh@wsc.school.nz

CUP PROJECT: Creating Sustainable Alternatives to Takeaway Coffee Cups

On Fri 21st and Wed 26th, we will be hosting workshops after school outside the soft tech room to create heatbands for our sustainable coffee cup alternatives.
If you want to do something good for our community then please come along, express your creativity and show what a sustainable school we are!!

2020 Young Leaders Sustainability Programme

Are you interested in actively practicing kaitiakitanga and championing action for Te Taiao (the environment) now and for future generations? You will also be exposed to a range of sustainability career pathways.

Auckland Council has invited two rangatahi (youth) & one reserve from our kura to take part in council’s 2020 Young Leaders Sustainability Programme.

When:
15-17 April 2020, three day ‘Life Below Water’ wananga connecting with the Manukau Harbour.
AND
One day hui during the July, October and December holidays.

Who:
2 x (and one reserve) Year 9-12 students who want to develop their leadership
Enthusiastic rangatahi who want to grow their connection with Te Taiao and take sustainable action for the environment.
