Te Ahurea Tino Rangatiratanga is a significant Māori Performing Arts event for Auckland Secondary Schools.…
At the time of writing it is the first week of Term 2 and all of our classes are extremely busy; Y9 have pattern paintings to resolve and the Y10s are finalising their research and work towards gaining NCEA level 1 credits. The seniors are also productive – completing work towards the first internals due in a couple of weeks with an eye on developing further into the next series of works.
In regards to staff – it’s a warm welcome back to our TIC Photography teacher Danielle Teleiai from maternity leave after having her two beautiful twin girls, and also to Alyssa Vennings Thomas in securing a permanent teaching position at WSCNPoW. As for myself it is slightly surreal after being away for a term due to medical issues – but it is great to be back teaching and talking to real people. I think it is apt to acknowledge and show appreciation to Kirsty and Ashley for maintaining the department during our absence and also thanks to Ivan for the flowers.
Lastly, a reminder regarding course costs for the year (listed on the school portal) and thanks to those of you who have already paid. Also, students can now retrieve their Art folios from last year via request from their 2020 teacher.
