Ngā Puna o Waiōrea ākonga in Spoken Word Finals!

Kia ora tātou,

A couple of weeks ago, two Semi-Finals were held for the WORD – The Front Line competition, which is an inter-high school Spoken Word poetry competition that brings together teams of young people from across Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland to share their stories in an explosion of youth expression.

Three kura went through from each Semi-Final to the Finals, and Ngā Puna o Waiōrea (NPoW) was one of those six schools in the Finals!
Other finalists include Mount Roskill Grammar, De La Salle College, Mount Albert Grammar School, Papakura High School, and 2021 Winners Marcellin College.

If you are free to come along to support the NPoW girls (Piremina Ngapera, Ava & Kaiya Walker, Arahi Sionetali-Rattray and Koromiko Jacobs-Williams) on Saturday 24th September at 7pm at the Auckland Town Hall, here is the link to buy tickets:

This is the third year that the girls have performed together and they have gotten into the Semi-Finals before, but never into the Finals. We have had a group in the competition since 2016 and one of our groups, Nga HIne Pukorero, won the Finals in 2018.
