WSC Sailing

The WSC sailing team competed in the Auckland Cup for Teams Racing, run out of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club over April 30-31.
For a team that was put together “last minute” and which had very limited teams racing experience, they performed incredibly well, racing against some of the most experienced and best teams in the country.
What impressed me the most was their willingness to learn and get better.  With no history of racing at this level as a team, expectations were low, but at the end of a long Day 1 they had surprised many, including themselves to have a 3 win 7 loss record at the end of Round Robin 1.  They went into the final day looking to improve on this and came out of the blocks well, but unfortunately the lack of wind cut the 2nd round robin short.  They had a 2 win 1 loss record when racing was stopped.
It was a fantastic experience for the team and very good first up effort for a WSC sailing team.  Hopefully this can be a stepping stone for future WSC sailing teams and can can generate some interest of other students who sail.
Thanks you Peter and Ivan for your support.
