Recent College Sport Auckland successes – Archery, Swimming

Archery

Western Springs College entered a Barebow TeamJacob Schaffer (Year 11), Toby Schaffer (Year 10), Eljay Paisley (Year 11) and Frederick Storer (Year 11) – into the Term 1 College Sport Auckland Interschool Competition held at the Auckland Archery Club on March 29th.

In mid-June, the team was advised that they placed 2nd nationally in the Barebow Teams’ competition AND that Jacob Schaffer came first nationally in the Individual Barebow Competition (score of 314)!

Jacob was also recently advised that he broke another NZ record in February – scoring 503 in the 50m Cadet Men’s Barebow Division!

Other WSC students who participated individually in this interschool competition included Robert McCrone (Year 10), Sienna Hayvice (Year 9), Cassandra Adams (Year 9), and Eleanor Adams (Year 9).

 

Swimming

The College Sport Auckland Individual Championships were held on Sunday 25th of June at West Wave Pools, Henderson. Sam Kenny (Year 13) and Abigail Sharp (Year 12) participated in this competition – earning a total of 6 medals between them in their respective 16 years & over competitions!

Sam received the Gold Medal in 100m Butterfly (Finals Time 56:58), Silver Medal in 100m Backstroke (Finals Time 59:33) and a Bronze Medal in 200m Individual Medley (Finals Time 2:13.89)

Abigail achieved Personal Bests (PBs) in 100m Butterfly (Finals Time 1:12.47), 100m Breaststroke and 200m Individual Medley, and she received Silver Medals in the 100m Breaststroke (Finals Time 1:22.29) and 100m Individual Medley (Finals Time 1:13.70), and a Bronze Medal in the 200m Individual Medley (Finals Time 2:40.03).
