Final event of 2023
There is still one more competition ahead in the Schools Equestrian calendar for 2023 – the Auckland Secondary Schools Three Day Event at Puhinui (Dec 8-10th). If you would like to know more about representing Springs in this, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact WSC Equestrian Team Manager via e-mail (gerardene@hotmail.com).
Great results for WSC at North Island Secondary Schools Championships
Congrats to our WSC rider and horse combinations of Lola Browne and Meeka and Maeve Gooder and Waiwai who recently competed in the North Island Secondary Schools Equestrian Championships in Taupo. These combinations competed in 7 categories over 3 days and did Springs proud in their great placings in such a big event (5th in Showhunter and 14th in Overall Best Performed Rider), as well as in how they looked out for others (including rescuing a get-away horse!) and by their high level of preparation for each event.
This is a unique sport where athletes are not only responsible for their own fitness and training but also that of their horses, so there wasn’t much down time with early starts in the frost and late nights with final horse checks and feeds. Luckily the weather played ball and every cold morning turned into blue sky days with great conditions for competing at the fantastic grounds of the National Equestrian Centre.
Thanks so much to support crew Sal B and Simon G, you were awesome!
