The 2024 Secondary Schools Winter Tournament Week officially kicked off today with eleven codes holding their competitions in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland from Monday 2nd September to Friday 6th September.
We have a record number of teams competing in the Winter Tournament Week, including two new sports for WSCW – hockey and skateboarding!
WSCW has entered teams in the following competitions:
- Basketball U15s Boys – JNR SS Premierships, Bruce Pulman Centre (started Sat 31 Aug)
- Hockey Girls – FIRST-EVER ENTRY – Mary Clinton Cup, North Harbour (started Mon 2nd Sep)
- Netball Girls – UNISS, Te Pai Courts (started Mon 2nd Sep)
- Football First XI Girls – Kathy Seaward Tournament, Waikaraka Park (started Mon 2nd Sep)
- Football First XI Boys – Malcolm Cowie Tournament, Whangārei (started Mon 2nd Sep)
- Skateboarding – FIRST-EVER ENTRY – NZSS Championships, Birkenhead Skatepark (starts Tues 3rd Sep)
- Basketball U19s Boys – AA Zone 1 SS Premierships, Bruce Pulman Centre (starts Weds 4th Sep)
- Basketball U17s Girls – SS Northern Cup, Trust Arena (starts Fri 6th Sep)
- Climbing – NZSS NZ Secondaries Climbing Cup, Mt Maunganui (started Mon 2nd Sep)
- Equestrian – North Island SS Championships, Taupō (started Mon 2nd Sep)

Upcoming Event
- Our Skiing team will compete at the North Island Secondary Schools Skiing Championships from Monday 16th September – Wednesday 18 September at Turoa, Mt Ruapehu.
Cancelled Event
- Our Snowboarding team was due to compete at the North Island Secondary Schools Snowboarding Championships (NISSSC) from Monday 23rd September – Wednesday 25th September at Turoa, Mt Ruapehu. However, this event has now been cancelled as “recent warm weather and rain lessened what suitable racing and freestyle areas would be available“, according to NISSSC organisers.
