Skylah Tainui-Takerei (Ngā Puna O Waiōrea-WSC tauira 2019-2023) is a really promising young netballer with a pretty dynamic journey so far! She was originally recognised as a talented multisport athlete – she actually played touch rugby at the national level. For netball, Skylah really started to shine in 2023 when she played for Western Springs College and was selected for the New Zealand Netball Development Camp. In 2024, Skylah was offered a scholarship at Howick College for Y13, and she was a key player in leading that school to win the National Secondary Schools Netball Championship.

In 2025, she moved down to Wellington to study at Victoria University and joined the Central Manawa team, where she quickly made a name for herself and even became the 2025 Manawa Player of the Year. Looking ahead to 2026, she’s got a training partner contract with the Pulse Netball team and last weekend, Skylah made her debut in the 2026 Netball ANZ Premiership in the starting lineup and played a full game. Skylah’s definitely one to watch on the netball scene! Wishing you all the best for the 2026 season, Skylah!
