Congratulations to all of our manu mātauranga, manu kōrero who took part in our internal Ngā Manu Kōrero competition. He manu korihi, he manu korokī, he manu kōrero — we are incredibly proud of the courage, preparation, and passion shown by all 25 kaikōrero who took flight and shared their voices. This was intended to be shared at last night’s whānau hui; however, as the hui was postponed, we would now like to share it with you here.

Representing Ngā Puna o Waiōrea – Western Springs College at the regional Ngā Manu Kōrero ki Waitematā speech competition, our selected manu kōrero are:

  • Kaiaia Hawke (Senior Māori: Pei Te Hurinui Jones)
  • Mairangi Hunia (Senior English: Korimako)

Kei ngā manu pīrere, koutou ko turuki ai e te hau, e mihi ana.  Like manu taking flight, you have each carried your voices with pride, purpose, and strength.

Hei tā te kōrero ‘Mā te huruhuru, ka rere te manu’, hēnā tēnei e mihi ana ki ngā huruhuru i rere ai ēnei manu kōrero.
