We have had another busy term in the library with hundreds of new titles added…

On Friday, May 29th, Western Springs College celebrated the vibrant return of its iconic Colour Run—the first since pre-COVID times!
Welcomed back with an opening introduction by Ivan, the event was a massive success that blended high-energy fun with deep curriculum learning across multiple year levels. While the Year 9s explored the cultural relevance of cross country, the Year 11s learned event planning, and the Year 13s demonstrated outstanding contemporary leadership by leading the waves of runners. The event perfectly capped off the Year 10 Performance unit, allowing students to test their cardiovascular fitness goals after weeks of training.
Marshalling started on the turf and the competitive races kicked off the day, followed by non-competitive waves where students took the challenge “head on” alongside friends. The powder paint brought endless smiles and massive engagement, especially for those chasing vital points for the house competition. With other students already asking how they can get involved next time.
The House leaderboard saw Moana & Oranga tie for 1st, followed by Atea (3rd), Whenua (4th), and Kāpura (5th).
The Physical Education department is already buzzing and cannot wait to bring the Colour Run back in 2027—bigger and better!
