Currently we have around 200 students away sick each day. This equates to 11% of our current roll and normally at this time of the year I would expect absences of 10% so we are not too far away from that.

Parents and caregivers also need to be aware that cold symptoms – runny nose, sneezing and tiredness followed by itchy blisters might be chicken pox. Please check in with your GP if you suspect this, because patients are contagious in the couple of days prior to blisters appearing when slight cold symptoms, feeling tired or running a temperature are indicators.

If you ever feel worried about your child’s health, contact your doctor or healthcare provider. You can also call Healthline anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for free health advice, treatment, and information.

There are many infectious diseases that can spread easily at school where there are a lot of people together. You should always keep your child at home if your healthcare provider or local public health service tells you to do so to prevent the spread of an infectious disease at school.
