End of year news from the International Department

News from International Department

While our senior students are sitting NCEA exams, the special programme for our Term 3 and 4 new students was still on.

Hannah Wachter and Emily Hinke, both from Germany, had a fun filled Kiwi experience travelling to the South Island, doing a volunteer work at our neighbouring Pasadena School and having a day trip to Piha, Rangitoto Island and so on.  One of the highlights was swimming with dolphins in Kaikoura.  On the last day of their programme, they presented us their memorable experiences showing their photos and videos.

In the meantime, Term 3 and 4 Asian new students were continuing on their intensive English and Maths programme until the end of November.  They also went to Piha for another day trip following the previous Devonport trip.  They enjoyed walking up to the waterfall and watching the rough waves crushing into Piha beach.  They were impressed by NZ’s beautiful nature.

On the last day of their course, we celebrated the completion of the programme acknowledging their effort and development with our principal, Mr Ivan Davis.   The following students were awarded for their outstanding and commendable application and achievement.

Zhuofan (John) Jiang – Outstanding Application and Achievement

Mingjun (Eric) Li – Outstanding Application and Achievement

Xiaoyi (William) Fan – Outstanding Application

Fuko Oyama – Commendable Application

Yan Yan (Isaac) Keung – Commendable Application

Yun-Hsi (Iris) Liu – Commendable Application

Also, Ms Monique Olivier, their ESOL teacher, collected the students’ writing pieces and photos, and published “ISP Class of 2019 Student Magazine” for them to look back at their first year at Western Springs College sometime in the future.  Here is the page about “My Success Theory” from the magazine.
