Youth Search and Rescue training programme

Youth Search and Rescue training programme – training to become a community volunteer in Search and Rescue and Disaster response organisations in NZ and abroad:

Youth Search and Rescue is an organisation set up to train young people to become community volunteers in Search and Rescue and Disaster response. We have been operating for 12 years and are passionate about bringing youth and diversity into the SAR sector.

We are currently taking applications for our Youth Search and Rescue training programme starting in February 2021. Ideally suited for students in Year 10 and 11 at secondary school. We meet one evening a week during the 1st three school terms of the year at Unitec Campus in Carrington Road.  The course includes some NZQA unit standards; Workplace First Aid, Coastguard Day Skipper, VHF Radio Communications, Leadership and management.

Check out our website www.ysar.org.nz

The programme is ideal for those who are seeking a career in Police, Defence, Outdoors, STEM based, medicine and many more.

We have scholarships available to families to support the cost of the three year training programme.

Please don’t hesitate to call me with any questions. Applications are taken on line and interviews are in October. What we are looking at in the interviews is a commitment for the 3 years training programme. https://ysar.org.nz/resources/apply-to-ysar/
