Te Ahurea Tino Rangatiratanga is a significant Māori Performing Arts event for Auckland Secondary Schools.…
This has been a tough past few weeks for families with flooding damage to homes and paddocks, many with concerns about horse welfare, both within and outside of the Western Springs community. We hold horse families across the North Island close in our hearts, especially those who are still searching for or have lost horses in the massive Hawke’s Bay flooding.
While we are looking forward to sending out equestrian teams to compete on behalf of the school, we understand that this is not a usual start to the year and some riders will need to build up as circumstances allow to getting their horses back fit and healthy to compete. As you will see from the calendar below, there are many events to take part in throughout the year including show jumping, dressage and eventing, so the good news is that time is on our side.
Please see below for the calendar of upcoming inter-school events for the remainder of 2023 – this may be updated with additional information over the year, so if you are interested in any of these, please sign up in Te Whakamanu and we’ll keep you notified! While some of these events are a few months away, we’d like expressions of interest from riders as soon as possible to allow for team preparation and entries etc. You can also contact team manager, Gerardene Gooder (gerardene@hotmail.com) with any questions you might have about about representing WSC in equestrian sports – we’d love to hear from you.
We have one early competition in the season with the Pegasus Show Jumping Cup at Takapota Estate in March, and have entered a single team in this. We wish Jolie, Lola, Charlie and Maeve the best of luck and look forward to increasing team numbers for the events ahead.
