Term 1 saw an action-packed schedule for the School’s Swim Team.
School’s Swimming Sports
First up was the well-attended School’s Swimming Sports held at the AUT Millennium, where the senior boys’ records were smashed by Sam Kenny in all events, namely: the 25m Free, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Fly; the 50m Free; and the 100m Individual Medley (by an impressive 6 seconds)! This was followed by Liam France who is now the school record holder for the Intermediate Boys 25m Breaststroke, Fly, and the 50m Free. And if that wasn’t enough, Kees Stafford went on to break the record in the Intermediate Boys 25m Backstroke. Well done boys, for your outstanding achievements.
Western Zones
The top 3 swimmers from the School’s Swimming Sports went on to proudly represent the school at Western Zones, where exciting racing produced impressive placings for the school’s swim team, namely:
1st Senior boys 100m Freestyle Relay – Sam Kenny, Liam France, Koen Dettling, Ocean Michael
1st Senior boys 200m Freestyle Relay – Sam Kenny, Liam France, Koen Dettling, Ocean Michael
1st Senior boys 200m Medley Relay – Sam Kenny, Liam France, Koen Dettling, Tom Kenny

Champs of Champs
Next off the blocks was the prestigious Auckland Swimming ‘Champion of Champions’, which sees the best Auckland swimmers battling it out for podium positions. The school sent its largest-ever team made up of Sam Kenny, Liam France, Koen Dettling, Ocean Michael, Tom Kenny, and Abigail Sharp who had all qualified from Western Zones – an outstanding achievement, in itself.
The senior boys’ relay team (Sam Kenny, Liam France, Koen Dettling, Ocean Michael) executed an exciting race against tough competition to place third in the Senior Boys 100M Freestyle, and they just missed out on another medal by coming 4th in the Senior Boys’ 200m Medley. Well-done team.
And Sam Kenny continued with his medal-winning streak in the individual events, winning Silver in the Senior Boys 50m Fly and Bronze in the 50m Backstroke. Congratulations Sam – we look forward to seeing your swimming career progress next year, as you continue your studies and swimming from Australia.
