Ngā Puna o Waiōrea is seeking an enthusiastic School Administrator to be the first point of contact at our kura. If you have a deep understanding of Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori, along with strong administrative skills, this could be the perfect role for you!

About the Role

This role is a permanent position and the successful applicant will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week, across 52 weeks per year. Remuneration will align with the applicant’s qualifications, experience and specialist skills. The appointee will be paid at the appropriate step of the Support Staff in Secondary Schools Collective Agreement – SSSCA) or link here.

As the School Administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring our school environment reflects the values and principles of Ngā Puna o Waiōrea. You will be responsible for managing the front desk, providing administrative support, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for students, whānau, staff, and visitors.

In this busy and dynamic role, you will need to be adaptable and ready to handle multiple deadlines. Excellent time management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to use your initiative to make decisions are essential. You’ll be the go-to person for inquiries and support, helping to create a positive and culturally rich environment for our entire school community.

Appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory Police vetting application & safety checks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, whānau, staff, and visitors, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment.
  • Manage the front desk, including answering calls, handling inquiries, and managing communications in both Te Reo Māori and English.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the school, including managing records, coordinating meetings, and assisting with events.
  • Uphold and promote the values of Ngā Puna o Waiōrea in all interactions and activities.
  • Stay organised and manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Use initiative to solve problems and make decisions when necessary.
  • Open and flexible to possible out of school hours. This will be negotiated upon the candidate’s successful application.

About You

  • Familiar with Te Reo Māori and have a proficient understanding of Tikanga Māori.
  • Friendly, approachable, and culturally aware, with excellent communication skills.
  • Highly organised with exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions independently.
  • Experience in an administrative role, preferably within an educational setting.
