We think your efforts were truly magnificent, and these scholarship results are a culmination of incredibly focussed work across subjects – a wonderful finish to your journey in critical-creative thinking in the Visual Arts and Art History. Well done from us all.

Welcome to 9Art, 2026!

Classrooms are abuzz as excited new learners take on a new course of work in 9Art, led by Sophie Bannan. Students are beginning with a Visual Pepeha painting and learning about the art of pigment-making mahinga toi. They’re busy mixing their own colours and learning about paint application with traditional pattern ahead of their study into some of the incredible artists of Aotearoa.

Senior painters are studying Vanitas in their own way, through their own lens. Photographers are learning all about their new equipment and how to put it into practice with photography outside the classroom and designers transforming stories of the past and present into narratives of illustrative and promotional design.

We look forward to the year ahead, wonderful work to come, trips to incredible galleries and seeing what the classrooms of 2026 personalise in their work.
