Congratulations to our Year 13 student, Daequan Su, on his successes representing New Zealand (NZ)…

Recently Year 13 students Zoe Rosser and Amelia Robertson organised a beach clean up at our local Pt Chevalier Beach.
They wanted to put on an activity for community minded Year 13 students who want experience volunteering. Zoe and Amelia had noticed that their peers wanted to do something useful in their community but didn’t know what was available. For these volunteers spending time outdoors was also a drawcard. An added bonus has been getting to socialise and connect with others and meet different people.
The Beach clean up was a great success. The crew walked the Beach from one end to the other starting at Coyle Park picking up rubbish and leaving the beach looking pristine!
Zoe and Amelia’s advice to others wanting to take social action in their community is to begin by organising it with a friend. They know that a lot of young people/rangatahi have great ideas, they just feel it’s hard to speak up and take action. Doing it with a friend can ease that feeling.
We thank Zoe and Amelia for their efforts and are proud of what they have achieved!
