Ski Team

The WSC Ski Team recently spent three days at the North Island Secondary Schools Ski Champs at which schools all over the North Island competed in a giant slalom race. Conditions were unfavourable for the first two days, but on the third day the organisers were able to get a race away. The snow conditions made the course extremely difficult and a huge chunk of the hundreds of racers crashed and did not finish. Despite this, we had some fantastic results:

Toby Main-2nd place, Grace Thevenard-38th place, Jasper Burkhardt-70th place, Felix Moores-77th place.

Unfortunately due to the difficult snow conditions, many of our racers crashed. Oscar Murrell, Jackson Green, Florence Canal, Billy Boyd, Fletcher Green and Zac Van Den Berg also participated in the race.     Richard Anderson

Junior Philosophy Workshop – ethics and social media

Thinking about the ethics of social media. Does social media enhance or undermine democracy? Is social media compatible with truth? Does social media require us to commodify ourselves? These questions and more will be explored during an interactive workshop on the ethics of social media being held at St Cuthbert’s on Thurs November 15. If you are year 9 or 10 and are interested in these questions, please contact Ms Johnson (johnsonp@wsc.school.nz) or come and see me in Y13 to sign up! The cost is $15 + $5-10 for bus hire.
