Te Ahurea Tino Rangatiratanga is a significant Māori Performing Arts event for Auckland Secondary Schools.…
Detabing at Western Springs College Ngā Puna O Waiōrea is in good heart. This year we had a senior advanced, two senior open and four junior open teams in the Auckland Schools’ Debating Preliminary Competition and despite the first lockdown forcing the competition online, it was an exciting season. Moots included: This house would require all students to play a team sport; THW ban all unpaid internships & THW mandate that parents should actively monitor their children’s social media activity. Most of our juniors were debating for the first time, so they can be especially proud of the many wins they scored (even when grappling with the inevitable technical issues). Big congratulations to our two senior open teams, made up of Antonia Lloyd, Orla Porten, Violet Eliot, Minh Anh Tran, Mac White and Connor Green, who won all their respective debates to get through as far as the Octofinals with 15 other West Auckland schools. Massive thanks to coaches Tetoki Tepaki, Isabelle Shepherd (Year 13 student), Louise Ryan, Anna Witten-Sage and Isabel Michell.
