Library Week

Our annual event was largely organised by the wonderful library monitors. They seem not to mind my usual haranguing to meet deadlines resulting in yet another successful  Library Week. They operate well as a team and were responsible for the questions in both the Form Class quiz and the Inter-house Quiz.

The Form Class Quiz which was eligible for House Points was  well-supported. Thanks to all form teachers who encouraged their students to participate. For the final question groups of students had to come the library, select 4 titles and create a SPINE POEM. This question went so well last year that we decided to have a repeat. Students were challenged to find suitable titles to create a poem but mostly a team effort paid off. The following were some of the amazing poems received.

Inter House Lit Quiz – a group of enthusiastic monitors lead by Bella Ashby wrote the quiz, consisting of 3 rounds – Literary Animals, Sidekicks and Enemies and New Zealand Literature. Each house arranged and organised a team of 4 keen readers from any year level.  Wanting to be included, some staff also entered a team. Although some questions were tough we all had a lot of fun, including the staff, who actually won by 1 point.
