VISUAL ARTS

Greetings from the Visual Art Department

At the time of writing the juniors classes are busy finishing off the term with expressive paintings, sgrafitto works and printmaking.  Check out Y6 and Y7 for a preview of their works as a number of these will feature in the Junior Arts Festival at the end of the year.  The level 1 students have also been making great progress with their drawing standard and are already half way through the scheduled timeframe.

Y13 Art Design, Painting, Photography visit Top Art at Te Tuhi

Senior Art and Art History students have been involved in a number of EOTC opportunities this term – the Level 3s went out to Te Tuhi to view the ‘Top Art’ exhibition and then on to Pah Homestead; then the Level 2 and 3 Photography classes had a professional photography tutor guide them through a ‘location workshop’ at Karekare and then on to Te Uru to view the interactive ‘from scratch’ exhibition.  Although all three trips were marred by transportation issues, the sensory importance of learning outside the classroom was invaluable and even motivated some of the Art History students to present in-depth analysis of the works towards their first internal.

Finally, a fee reminder to parents and guardians about the payment of Art and Art History fees for Y10-13.
